En el Banco Nacion, las pizarras initially showed a market that began the week with the same levels left on Friday, and the movement of the blue dollar in the informal market remained close to those values.
This stability at the start of the week is not unusual when there are no major surprises between Friday's close and Monday's opening, because the banks use the last recorded price as a reference. The informal dollar closed the previous week at $1.513,20 for the purchase and $1.560 for the sale, maintaining a reduced difference with the official exchange rate.
How the financial dollar operates
The financial dollar, the MEP, also known as the Bolsa dollar, and the contado con liquidacion are obtained through stock market operations involving bonds and stocks. Since the removal of the exchange controls, banks enabled this type of operation through home banking, although each institution has its own schedules and requirements.
- To operate, the customer must enter the section for the purchase and sale of foreign currency.
- The amount in pesos must be entered and the transaction confirmed with the available funds.
- The schedules and conditions depend on the bank in which the operation is carried out.
Inflation accelerated in September
In parallel, the INDEC published the consumer price index for September. Inflation was 1,9% monthly, one tenth of a percentage point above the 1,7% registered in August, and the main impetus came from public utility tariffs and some food products.
In the first nine months of the year, accumulated inflation reached 23,6%, while in the year-on-year comparison retail prices rose 33,4% compared with September 2025. The dollar and inflation are therefore moving within the same economic environment, in which exchange rate stability at the start of the week does not erase the increase in the cost of household purchases.
The combination of a dollar that opens without changes and monthly inflation of 1,9% leaves a scenario in which families face a careful reading of their daily expenses. The exchange rate offers a reference point at the start of the week, but the cumulative rise in prices remains the central issue when measuring the impact on consumption.
